Star Trek Quilt Top Complete

Star Trek Quilt Top Complete

My fellow Star Trek fans, the quilt top is complete. I just need to find the perfect backing for it and get quilting.

Check it out, isn’t it the best thing you have ever seen?

Star Trek Quilt Top Complete

(really need to work on my quilt photography)

I will post a nice photo once the quilt top is quilted.

Most of the block patterns are mine, but there are some other designers in there as well. You can find them on my Star Trek page here.

Or on Fandom in Stitches

and Some can be found on Sewhooked

Originally I thought it would be a good idea to have both black and brown starry fabric for the background. It doesn’t look to bad, but I think I would have gone with just the black background.

Also these Star Trek patterns were some of the first patterns I designed when I just started designing. And there was no plan of action on anything at all. I just designed willy nilly.

So when it came time to put them all together it became a problem, I had to add fabric to some, and trim off on others to make them all fit together.

Since them I have planned all my quilt tops, to ligically fit together, so that it does not become a problem for other quilters to put together.

Now!

I know there has not been any new Star Trek patterns posted recently, but there is a reason for that. I a planning a Star Trek quilt along for 2018. It is themed The Next Generation. Whoohoo, my favorite series. So all the patterns being designed is specifically for the quilt along and cannot be share yet.

If you would like a quilt along based on the other series as well, no worries they are coming as well. But you can help me decide which one will be next.

Please comment below or fill in the the contact form below and let me know what type of Star Trek theme or a completely other theme you would like to see.

Vulcan Script for Spock from Star Trek

Vulcan Script for Spock from Star Trek
At long last, as promised, the alphabet set is done and ready for download.
To state the obvious, I LOVE SPOCK.
And anything to do with Vulcan and basically everything to do with Star Trek. What can I say….
Spock is a Vulcan, and why not make the alphabet letters in proper Vulcan Script.  Normal letters would be boring, right?
That is why you will not recognize the letters as normal letters, they are exactly as they would appear in the Vulcan alphabet.

You can now play around and make up your own words with the letters provided.
The position of the letters in the block is where they are supposed to be, so some will look off center, or top or bottom, just letting everyone know, that it is correct.

It had been quiet on the blog writing front, as I have been so busy getting the Vulcan Script patterns designed and tested. Plus I am on the last stretch of planning and finalizing for the Fantastic Beasts Quilt Along coming up in October 2016. Fabric requirements will be posted in the next couple of week. So keep a lookout for that.

In between all of that, we had some severe flooding here, and tornadoes, we personally did not have to much damage to our house, just “rained” a bit inside two off the bedrooms, and there was some major cleanup to do after that. There were quite a few families in our community that had lost their home completely.

Now that all off the personal distasters have been sorted out and I am on track with all the quilting events planning. There will be more regular post on new pattern being released. Star Trek patterns are still very much on the go and I will continue pumping those out, as much as I can in between other projects.

Till next time.

Klingon Bat’leth from Star Trek

Klingon Bat'leth from Star Trek
Klingon Bat’leth from Star Trek

(Click on the image above to download this pattern)

Here we have another TNG (The Next Generation) pattern, Worf’s Bat’leth.

According to Klingon mythology, the first bat’leth was forged by Kahless the Unforgettable in the 9th century. Kahless cut a lock of his hair and dropped it into the lava of the Kri’stak volcano, then plunged the burning lock into the Lake of Lusor and twisted it into a blade. After forging the weapon, he used it to fight the tyrant Molor, and then gave it its name. This story was not recorded in public texts, but was passed down verbally by the Klingon clerics as a test of Kahless’ return. (TNG: “Rightful Heir“)

The Sword of Kahless was preserved by the Klingons following Kahless’ death, until it was stolen by the Hur’q when they plundered Qo’noS about five hundred years after his death. (DS9: “The Sword of Kahless“)

Worf owned a bat’leth that had been in his family for ten generations. After his mate K’Ehleyr was murdered by Duras, Worf used this weapon to kill Duras in honorable combat. (TNG: “Reunion“)

During his time aboard the USS Enterprise-D, Worf trained both William T. Riker and Beverly Crusher in the use of the bat’leth. (TNG: “The Quality of Life“, “The Pegasus“) (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com)

The Borg Queen

The Borg Queen

Welcome back to another Star Trek pattern!

The Borg Queen
The Borg Queen

This pattern is the Borg Queen from Star Trek, she appears in several episodes of The Next Generation and Voyager, and in the movie First Contact.

I have been working on this pattern for some time now, and have been delaying sharing it until the time was perfect.

The pattern is the perfect size for a wall hanging, but can easily be turned into a small quilt with some borders.

My friend Jennifer Ofenstein loves Star Trek just as much as I do, so this was the perfect gift to make.

Some of you might know, that Jennifer is the blog owner for Fandom in Stitches, where I design and write posts. And she has become a really good friend, plus she share the same birthday month as me.

So when I made this quilt,  it was a bit of tongue in cheek reference here to Fandom and Stitches as the collective and Jennifer as the Borg Queen.

(Please take note! The words in the quilt is not included in the pattern, if you would like them, please message me in the contact form below and I will gladly make up a pattern for the words.)

Just for fun, I am including my video to Jennifer about the wall hanging and Jennifer’s video where she shares the gift with us.

This is me!

And this is Jennifer our FIS Queen

 And the Borg Queen

Have an awesome crafty week.

Tea Coffee and Cake Mug Rug

Tea Coffee and Cake Mug Rug

Mum asked me the other day to make something for her friend, that would be traveling across the big ocean to the other side of the world.

My mom and her friends had coffee and cake on a weekly basis, so I could not think of anything more appropriate to make.

Wow, was I excited when I got this request, DS9 is towards the top of my list of favorites in Star Trek. And the DS9 pattern was born.

I will be making some more patterns soon based on DS9, I will keep you posted on that.

And the reason I am so slow with the Star Trek patterns at the moment, (besides being sick recently) is …

Finally I can talk about my “Secret Project”, but sorry no sneak peaks. The teaser is in the picture above. And maybe, just maybe, I will slip something in as we get closer to the Quilt Along date.

Please book the date, I really hope you will join me for this quilt along.

The quilt along will be hosted by Fandom in Stitches

As soon on Fandom in Stitches2

and a dedicated Fantastic Beast page and regular blog posts will be here on my blog for anyone who wants to follow along here.

PS: Because of the #fbqal I have not been able to blog patterns so much.  I will be showing some fabrics and layouts soon for Fantastic Beasts, that I will be sharing with Jennifer at Fandom in Stitches.

Till next time.
