Quilt Qwazy Queens Day Two

Welcome to Quilt Qwazy Queens Blog Hop Day 2, hosted by Marian at Seams to Be Sew. You’ll find the list of other participants at the end of my post who are also offering daily giveaways. Thank you, Marian, for hosting another brilliant hop.

Our theme this year is UFO’s (Unfinished Objects), you know! Those quilt tops you finished and not quilted yet. Or maybe you haven’t even made all the blocks yet for a complete quilt top.

After much debate with myself about how I am going to show my huge amount of UFO’s, I made the decision to show you ONLY 20 of them, and not all 87!

And to make it easier, I left them all in 1 photo and not 20.

In this photo I have the following UFO’s; Fantastic Beasts 1 & 2, I want to believe, Pink Kitty, Pinstripe Crossing, Star Trek quilt, My Favourite Things, Project of Doom, Signature top, Pinwheel table runner, T Shirt quilt, Ipad Quilt, Place mats, Candlewicking quilt, Fall panel, Camping quilt, Little pink house, Stacked Windows, and Paper Piecing Vintage.

These are the ones, that I had every intention of finishing off this year… what a laugh. This year, is turning out to be just as busy as last year.  But I will persevere.

Please go and visit the other ladies who is posting today, to see what they have been busy with.

Crafty Updates

I am carving out some time to work on some much needed quilts, that has been promised for awhile now.

Quilt UFO 1 – The Dragon Quilt, this one is for my brother. And I meant to have a dragon quilt done for Christmas, …. last year.

I had every intention of designing the dragons for this quilt, but time was not on my side.

These dragon patterns was designed by Michelle Thompson, a very talented pattern designer. You can see more of her work on her blog Misha29.

Plus the patterns are featured on Fandom in Stitches as well.

This is the first to done, need to finished another 4 dragons,  … I think.

The patterns are all 12 inches. I will be adding wide borders to make it bigger so it fits my brothers body.

***

Then I started with the Block Of The Month, which the only one I allowed myself for this year.

Paper Piecing Vintage 2017. You can find these patterns at Sewhooked.

Crafty Updates

With the BOM, I decided to go with delicate colors. I love how it looks all vintage.

2017 Year of the UFO

2017 Year of the UFO

It is sad to say, that the second half of 2016 flew by so fast, I hardly had time to post patterns and tutorials.

From September to this past Wednesday I was super busy running a quilt along which was hosted by Fandom in Stitches. I blogged and posted a LOT on FIS and the Facebook page for Fantastic Beasts Quilt Along, and did not have time for my own site. This will be corrected asap. And should not have happened, but I did learn a lot from this Quilt Along, even though I prepared for it for a year, I was still not prepared. AT ALL!

You can find the link to the archive here.

2017 Year of the UFOHere are some pictures from the Quilt Along

The good thing is, I DID learn a lot from this experience and will be running BOM and QAL here a lot now and I have LOADS of ideas, which I really hope you will love and join in.

I have a couple of patterns just about ready to be released, look out for these coming out in the next couple of weeks.

What did I finish off this year? Good question.

  1. Micky Mouse Quilt for Nephew

WOW, I honestly didn’t think I finished so many projects 2016, not bad at all. If I have to say so myself.

Some pictures of finished quilts

So onto my plans for next year.

2017

First, I have seen a lot of other quilters talk about the UFO lists, and let me tell you I was shocked to find out how long my list is. Filled up with half finished quilt alongs and blocks of the months from other quilters.

So I have the restricted myself to only one Quilt Along or BOM for 2017 from another quilter.  More about that later.

The UFO list has been whittled down to 12, as I am determined to finish at least 1 UFO per month.

Here is the 2017 UFO list I WILL finish.

(with the year it was started)

  1. Star Trek Quilt – blocks finished, complete the quilt top – 2016
  2. My Favorite Things (Jennifer Ofenstein – Sewhooked) – finish up the blocks and the quilt top – 2016
  3. X- Files quilt along ((Jennifer Ofenstein – Fandom in Stitches) – finished blocks and quilt top – 2016
  4. Sunbonnet Sue Block of the month (Marian Pena – Seams to be Sew) – finish blocks and quilt top – 2016
  5. Fantastic Beasts Quilt Along – Mine – finish blocks and quilt top – 2016
  6. Large Hexie Quilt – Aunt gave to me 2016 – started 1986
  7. Eagle Quilt – Designed – make quilt top – 2016
  8. Dragons Quilt – designed – make quilt top – 2016
  9. Fantastic Beasts Quilt Along 2 – Started designing – need to finish designing and make blocks and finish the quilt top by September 2017
  10. Sampler FMQ – Finish practicing all the lessons – learning to fmq – 2016
  11. Jersey – OK this is not a quilt. But I got an unfinished jersey from my late aunt, and it just needs its last cuff on the sleeve to be able to use it. – 2015
  12. Paper pieced house mug rug – Done, just needs binding – 2015

Alright my friends, that was just the short list. I would like to get more done than that, and will attempt more from the lists below if I get time, as I am busy with a bunch of new patterns to be released. Some free, some for sale.

Quilt plans galore 2016

Happy new year everyone! I hope this year brings you happiness and pleasure.

In yesterday’s post, I went through my list, and realized how far I veered of my planned list. But I did accomplish a whole lot.

This year I am planning a quilt along, of magical proportions.

There will be 97 paper pieced blocks, which will give you options, to pick and choose your favorites. The quilt along will start the first Wednesday of October and end the last Wednesday of December. This will include several layouts for you to choose from.

This quilt along is free.

Oh! you want to know what the theme is, I did mention that it is magical. Lets just say if you loved Harry Potter, then you will love this. It is not Harry Potter, but is related to it. And that is where I leave all my clues.

Unfortunately, I cannot not actually reveal the theme until September.

Now! For my 2016 list of projects.

  • Nuts about blog hop – Seams to be sewstbs-Nuts-About-267x300
  • Design a fish eagle quilt for dad.

Ok, now. And don’t think I a crazy, but I have some more UFO’s and ideas floating through my brain. The QAL and BOM I will not list here, as I am still in design stage with these. But the rest I will list below, if and a BIG IF I have a chance throughout this year, I will get to it list.

You also have to factor in the distraction of other peoples awesome projects.

This Christmas Stocking is so popular, that I literally made hundreds of them. These are just a few samples of what I did. They are quite big, you can fit a small child into one.

I think I need to start sewing some more ready for this Christmas, as you know it is just around the corner.  Just 8 months to go.

Perry The Platypus

Perry the Platypus is my favorite (dare I say it) character from the Phineas and Ferb show.

I found this pattern online somewhere, and for the life of me can not find it again.

I made him out of old jeans, and he looks great.

Some interesting fact about Perry;

Animal Type: Platypus
Color: Teal
Height: 6 inches
Weight: 4 pounds
Age: 9 years old
Owner: The Flynn family
Hobbies: Secret agent, and as far as his family knows, nothing.

Inspiration hit me, after reading Jennifer Ofenstein’s UFO to do list for 2015 over at sewhooked.com.
