Checkerboard January 11, 2016 Checkerboard – Play with me QAL Wow, we are into out second week of January already. And what a first week it was. Busy, busy, busy. In between many other things, I decided to tackle the Play with me QAL with alidatweloqdesigns. Alida has 9 wonderful boards to make into either place-mats, zip / roll-up bags and a pick-nick sized quilt. Each block will showcase a different technique and can be done as a quilt as you go method. I am happy about this, as I have not tried quilt as you go yet. So that will be a first for me. This one below is the first block, the checkerboard. This ones used bargello piecing, which was also a first for me. (Which is weird, since I have made way more advanced stuff) And was a very easy technique to use. Alida, give very detailed information on each block, how to make the block. And teaches you the technique, in such a way that even absolute beginners can follow along. I am very excited to see what she has planned for us next. If you want to quilt along with us, here is the link below. There isn’t much else I can show at the moment, as I am busy with a commissioned piece that needs to be finished in the next week. I will show more of that one later. Till next time. Thank you to all of my followers for all of your support and lovely comments. I also discovered bargello pretty recently and I did more advanced techniques first. Sometimes it is good to have a technique that does not require too much thinking in the bag 🙂 I am happy you enjoyed the tutorial and thanks for sharing the block in the linky!! Loading... I haven’t tried that yet. Usually just fmq over the whole top. Loading... sallyqiad January 12, 2016 at 4:38 am Reply Good job–I do enjoy bargello–fast and fun. Loading...
