I Wish You A Merry QAL Block Three Plus Prizes
There really has been some awesome Christmas Tree Farm Blocks in the Facebook group these past 2 weeks. And I love them all.
Before I get to block 3!
Did you know, besides the prizes you can win each week, there is also a big prize for everyone who posts a finished quilt at the end.
Here are some of the sponsors for the BIG prize that you can win at the end of the quilt along.
And now for block 3.
This block is designed by Laura Piland from Slice of Pie Quilts (click this link for the pattern download page). It is a Santa’s belt block.
Fabric selection for this block.
I chose a bright red, and tone on tone yellow. With a strip of black.
Here is my version of the block.
Tip for this block.
Actually for this block, I do not have a tip. It was super easy to make and the instructions is very clear.
Quilt as you go…
When I saw this block, the perfect quilting idea popped straight into my head.
First you need to make your quilt sandwich. I chose a matching red thread for the top thread.
Using a walking foot, I stitched in the ditch a 1/4 inch from the seam line. all the way around the belt and buckle.
Then, still with the red thread, I went around the inner edges of the belt.
Remember to sew the square inside the buckle.
The red spaces is big, so they need some kind of filler. I chose a small all over meaner. Or squiggle. Because Santa’s coat is furry, right.
My finished block.
And the back.
