I chose a bright red, and tone on tone yellow. With a strip of black.
Here is my version of the block.
Tip for this block.
Actually for this block, I do not have a tip. It was super easy to make and the instructions is very clear.
Quilt as you go…
When I saw this block, the perfect quilting idea popped straight into my head.
First you need to make your quilt sandwich. I chose a matching red thread for the top thread.
Using a walking foot, I stitched in the ditch a 1/4 inch from the seam line. all the way around the belt and buckle.
Then, still with the red thread, I went around the inner edges of the belt.
Remember to sew the square inside the buckle.
The red spaces is big, so they need some kind of filler. I chose a small all over meaner. Or squiggle. Because Santa’s coat is furry, right.
My finished block.
And the back.
