Project of Doom week 1. This is the first of 30 weeks worth of blocks, based on all the Harry Potter movies and books. All the blocks are designed by Jennifer Ofenstein from Sewhooked and hosted by Fandom In Stitches. Block 1 is the crystal ball, Sybill Trelawney introduced all third year students to this device and its proper use in 1994. However, most students, Harry Potter and his friends in general, saw nothing more than the white blank swirl in it, and Ron joked about how that night would be very foggy. In their end of year exam, the third years had to lookRead More →

The Lirpa is a Vulcan Melee Weapon. The lirpa was a traditional Vulcan melee weapon, consisting of a metal staff with a fan-shaped blade on one end and a club on the other. The haft below the shaped blade had some Vulcan lettering on it. In 2154, the Vulcan commandos sent by the Vulcan High Command after Jonathan Archer and T’Pol wielded lirpas, since energy weapons were useless in Vulcan’s Forge. Archer disarmed one of them and was very familiar with the use of this weapon because of his mind meld with Syrran.  It was used by combatants in the kal-if-fee, the traditional mating challengeRead More →

The Romulan Phaser is one of many Romulan patterns that is being designed. The Romulan presence stand out most for me in the new timeline, when they came through the wormhole in their massive ship, which was an awesome sight. They did not have a major role, I think, in the old series. This phaser is the one that the Romulans used to shoot at Kirk, when he went to find Captain Pike on the Romulan ship. Please check back again for more Star Trek patterns, a whole queen sized bed quilt is planned. Plus extras so that everyone can pick their favorite blocks. TillRead More →

The Romulan Honor Blade is a stunning piece of weaponry and worthy of a place in any Star Trek Quilt. Honor, is something the Romulans valued the most. The Romulan Honor Blade (Romulan: dathe’anofv-sen) is a traditional weapon. Honor blades is passed down through Romulan families, and are ritually sharpened. I love the shape of this weapon, it just looks deadly and mean. The Romulans used these weapons to behead any opponents who stands in their way or betrays them. “Nero is a particularly troubled Romulan.“ – Spock, 2258 (Star Trek) LLAP Vanda Chittenden SaveRead More →

What can I say, Romulan Ale had to done. My favorite scene was where Kirk had the State dinner with Gorkon and everyone got a little tipsy. Romulan ale was a highly intoxicating alcoholic drink of Romulan origin with a characteristic blue color. It was also used for “medicinal purposes” (Really? Now you tell me) Captain James T. Kirk: [dictating his personal log] The Enterprise hosted Chancellor Gorkon and company to dinner last night. Our manners weren’t exactly Emily Post. Note to the Galley; Romulan Ale can no longer be served at diplomatic functions. LLAP Vanda Chittenden SaveRead More →

2015 Quilt and Sewing to do list Inspiration hit me, after reading Jennifer Ofenstein’s UFO to do list for 2015 over at sewhooked.com. I have so many unfinished quilts lying around, that I forgot about or didn’t have time for. I decided to make my own UFO (unfinished object) list for 2015, that I need to work on. Some of the objects are USO (Un-started Objects) or WIP (Work in progress), BOM (block of the month) FIS (Fandom in Stitches) I was quite shocked when I realized how many projects I had lying around waiting to be finished. Here the are, no. 1 is priorityRead More →
