The Trouble with Tribbles

The Trouble with Tribbles

And here she is, as promised.

This is one of the patterns that was requested.

It took me awhile to work out how to design something that is essentially just a ball of fluff. So this is the best I could do. I hope you like it.

(I think we have enough TOS now, and will be designing newer series patterns from now on)

Today’s pattern is the Tribble, which is a curious creature, that once invested the Enterprise.

Tribbles are fictional alien species in the Star Trek universe who first appeared in the episode titled “The Trouble with Tribbles”. They are depicted as small, furry, soft, gentle, attractive, and slow-moving, and they usually produce a soothing purring or cooing sound when stroked, all of which are endearing traits to humans, Vulcans, and their hybrids. However, because tribbles reproduce incredibly fast, and consume exponentially larger and larger amounts of food as they multiply and crawl stealthily from one place to another, Starfleet considers them dangerous organisms and forbids their transportation. The Klingons, in whose presence tribbles produce a convulsive, shrieking reaction, go as far as to consider them “mortal enemies”, as stated in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Trials and Tribble-ations”. – Wiki

Spock claimed he was immune to the effects of the Tribble.

Till next time, have an awesome day.

Spock Paper Pieced Block

Spock Paper Pieced Block

I finally managed to get to Spock. I am so happy with him.

You can click on the picture for the free pattern download. It will take you to a different page.

This year my Star Trek quilt will be completely finished. It is ending up to be more a tribute to Spock than anything else.

Plus this year is the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek. So this quilt will be finished by June.

I am by no means anywhere near finished with Star Trek though, there is still loads more patterns planned, and there has been some requests for specific Star Trek patterns, which I am currently working on.

After the requests have been designed, and the rest of my current quilt, I will be focusing on The Next Generations blocks, then DS9, Voyager and lastly Enterprise, in this order. Finally once I have watched the brand new series coming out in 2017, I will design those as well.

And of course, with the brand new timeline, there will be new things and places and aliens to make into blocks to. The project is endless.

If you put in a request, I will obviously work on that blocks first before the other blocks being designed.

All current request are being worked on right now.

Smartphone Quilt Along

Image

The Smartphone Quilt Along started recently at Fandom in Stitches. Jennifer Rowels is the designer.

Every week she is releasing 3  blocks, you can choose 1 or all three, depending on how big you want your quilt to be, there is 56 (I think) icons to choose from. And she will have different layouts to choose from as well. So you could end up with an apple or a Samsung quilt in the end.

Here is what I have managed to stitch up so far.

Project of Doom Week 3

The patterns is designed by Jennifer Ofenstein at Sewhooked and hosted by Fandom in Stitches.

The first block is of the Deathly Hallows.

The Elder Wand,” he said, and he drew a straight vertical line on the parchment. “The Resurrection Stone,” he said, and he added a circle on top of the line. “The Cloak of Invisibility,” he finished, enclosing both line and circle in a triangle, to make the symbol that so intrigued Hermione. “Together,” he said, “the Deathly Hallows.Xenophilius Lovegood

The second block is the Dark Mark and a potions bottle.

…You-Know-Who and his followers sent the Dark Mark into the air whenever they killed. The terror it inspired…you have no idea, you’re too young. Just picture coming home and finding the Dark Mark hovering over your house, and knowing what you’re about to find inside… Everyone’s worst fear…the very worst.Arthur Weasley

POD Quilt a long 2015

POD Quilt a long 2015

It is with great excitement that the new Project of doom Quilt a long (POD Quilt a long 2015) for 2015 was announced late last year. The super vibe that swept through the Facebook Group Project of Doom, (click on the name or here to go through and find out about this fantastic quilting project) was and still is awesome. The POD is based on the Harry Potter Movies. Yes it is still very popular.

On 7 January 2015 we received our first pattern Week 1 on the Fandom of Stitches Website. Once a week every Wednesday we will get a new pattern to make, until the 30th week, when we will be working on stitching all the blocks together to make up the complete quilt that will look like a bookcase.

POD Quilt a long 2015

Fandom in Stitches Week 1 Pattern for Project of Doom

This is my attempt for Pattern Week 1, which is found here.

I absolutely love quilting, and especially paper piecing. Every week I will add a new post with my new finished block and a link to the pattern.

Unfortunately I did not think about showing how I sewed the block. But will include it into my next post based on POD 2015.
