Enter If You Dare Blog Hop Day Two

Yesterday started the Enter If you Dare Blog Hop, a Halloween theme.

I had so much fun, making the mug rugs, and wall hanging for this event.

But first!  A big thank you to Marian at Seams to be Sew for planning and running another awesome event. Be sure to visit Marian blog every day to get the pretty awesome patterns she is giving away.

The Bonus Blocks

Ok! yes I am starting this post a little back to front.

Marian asked all the bloggers if they were interested in making some of her bonus patterns to show off during the hop. (The free patterns mentioned above). And I jumped at the chance.

Here is my two that I chose for my day.

This one looks just like a ghost emoji. I think it is so cute. Click on the photo to go to the page where all these patterns are shown.

I chose a black background, as you would see your ghost during the night, and bordered it with a green to match his eye. A super easy applique pattern, I chose to machine applique the pieces to the background at the same time quilting it through the quilt sandwich. I then back stitched the features in the face. You can just make them out in the photos, I do wish I had chosen a darker green.

This one above is a traditionally pieced pattern of Frankenstein. Mostly squares.

I chose to quilt this wall hanging (20 x 20″) in a criss cross pattern, and think it turned out very well.

Click on the photo to go to the pattern page.

My contribution

Alright, I need to confess something here.

Every single hop and quilt along I have taken part in, I have designed something new.

But circumstances in the last couple of months had been against me for this one.

The patterns I am showing today, is both free and new to me. Freshly made, quilted and bound, hot of the presses.

But not designed by me. Both these blocks below can be found free on Fandom in Stitches and is designed by my friend Jennifer Ofenstein, these patterns can also be found on her own website called Sewhooked.

TTMT #11

Image

TTMT #11 . Where I talk a bit about projects in progress, but no finished projects (that I can actually show).

I recently finished my Creepy Crawly Halloween Haunts Applique quilt.  The post can be found here.

Creepy Crawley Halloween Haunts, ttmt #11The center creepy tree, now called the bonsai tree. Is the center piece for a wall hanging for my dad, my dad and I share a passion for growing bonsai. There is no picture to show of that tree yet, but will take one as soon as I have added the words below and above the tree.

You can see both the new bonsai tree quilt in progress and the nearly finished signature block in this weeks TTMT video below.

Please excuse the coloring, I seem to either get the picture to dark or to red and orange.

I have a lot more free patterns in the works, plus some patterns for sale.

  1. Star Trek – Free patterns
  2. Ice Age- free patterns
  3. Christmas patterns – haven’t decided yet.
  4. Anime – free patterns
  5. Super Secret project due in 2016 – free patterns

Hope everyone has a great day.

Look out for future TTMT #11 videos with big reveals and finished projects.

Haunting With Joan Today

Halloween-Haunts-2015-600x423

Let me introduce you today to Joan Wintersgill. She doesn’t have a blog, so I am showing her project here at Quilt In Piece.

Today, Joan is presenting us with a pattern she made that she got from Janeen’s blog at Quilt Art. She’s made this into a pillow to present to one of her co-workers mother who’s birthday is on Halloween. She lives in England.

Finally! I can show my Halloween Haunts project.

And here she is. (My quilt photo skills are not quite there yet. )

22275017641_1873e89ba4_z

I was so excited when I signed on for the Halloween Haunts blog hop, that the only plan of action was to start from the beginning. Design my own patterns.

Yes, I had loads of fun with the project, this was my first time designing applique patterns, and my first Halloween quilt. You see, in South Africa, it is only recently that Halloween has become popular, and growing bigger by the year. So this was truly a lot of fun to make.

I am giving away this pattern for free to everyone visiting my blog on my blog hop day, maybe a bit longer, as I don’t have my own prize to give away. My pattern for Creepy Crawly Halloween Haunts is now available in my Craftsy store here.

But there is a giveaway today from the Fat Quarter Shop.
