RIP Professor Severus Snape, Alan Rickman

In memory of our favorite Professor, Severus Snape – Alan Rickman, may you rest in peace.

I designed this pattern last year September for a friend.

To download the pattern click on the photo.

Designed and tested by Vanda Chittenden

20 x 20 inch paper pieced with applique

This pattern was inspired by Snape and his love for Lily.

“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”
“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”
From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
“After all this time?”
“Always,” said Snape.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

So, when a swap event happened recently and my swap buddy requested Snape, I decided to design Snape with a memory of his Protronus.

The Patronus is appliqued, you can decide if you want it, your choice. Pattern shape included in the pdf download.

I also tried to embroider the blossom tree where Snape met Lily for the first time, and had some blossoms floating around. Not to many.

That is completely optional.

I hope you like him. (I will need to make another one, just for me.)

Project of Doom Week 9

Project of Doom Week 9

This week we made the Golden Snitch and a stack of books with our house tie. I am in Hufflepuff house, so my tie colors are yellow and black.

Both patterns can be found at Fandom in Stitches.

Here is my Snitch.

To Harry James Potter, I leave the Snitch he caught in his first Quidditch match at Hogwarts, as a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and skill.—Rufus Scrimgeour quotes from Dumbledore’s will on this Snitch.

And my house tie.

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil
The Sorting Hat

Hufflepuff is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Its founder was the medieval witch Helga Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. The emblematic animal is a badger, and yellow and black are its colors. The Head of Hufflepuff is Pomona Sprout and the Fat Friar is the House’s patron ghost.

Hufflepuff corresponds roughly to the element of earth, and it is for that reason that the House colors were chosen: yellow represented wheat, while black was emblematic of soil. The Hufflepuff points hourglass contains yellow diamonds.

Project of Doom Week 7

This time we have the Time Turner and the Venomous Tentacula.

I loved working on these pattern, especially the Tentacula, he came out gorgeous.

I mark the hours, every one, Nor have I yet outrun the Sun. My use and value, unto you, Are gauged by what you have to do.“—Inscription on Hermione Granger‘s Time-Turner

The Venomous Tentacula is a green, spiky, toothsome plant with mobile vines that try to grab living prey. Venomous Tentacula expels venom from its shoots, and its spikes are deadly. Its bite is highly poisonous and can prove fatal.

The patterns is designed by Jennifer Ofenstein at Sewhooked and hosted by Fandom in Stitches.

2015 Quilt and Sewing to do list

Inspiration hit me, after reading Jennifer Ofenstein’s UFO to do list for 2015 over at sewhooked.com.

I have so many unfinished quilts lying around, that I forgot about or didn’t have time for. I decided to make my own UFO (unfinished object) list for 2015, that I need to work on.

Some of the objects are USO (Un-started Objects) or WIP (Work in progress), BOM (block of the month) FIS (Fandom in Stitches)

I was quite shocked when I realized how many projects I had lying around waiting to be finished. Here the are, no. 1 is priority number 1, the rest is just in random order. I have also added links to some of the projects, if anyone is interested in joining in.

POD Quilt a long 2015

POD Quilt a long 2015

It is with great excitement that the new Project of doom Quilt a long (POD Quilt a long 2015) for 2015 was announced late last year. The super vibe that swept through the Facebook Group Project of Doom, (click on the name or here to go through and find out about this fantastic quilting project) was and still is awesome. The POD is based on the Harry Potter Movies. Yes it is still very popular.

On 7 January 2015 we received our first pattern Week 1 on the Fandom of Stitches Website. Once a week every Wednesday we will get a new pattern to make, until the 30th week, when we will be working on stitching all the blocks together to make up the complete quilt that will look like a bookcase.

POD Quilt a long 2015

Fandom in Stitches Week 1 Pattern for Project of Doom

This is my attempt for Pattern Week 1, which is found here.

I absolutely love quilting, and especially paper piecing. Every week I will add a new post with my new finished block and a link to the pattern.

Unfortunately I did not think about showing how I sewed the block. But will include it into my next post based on POD 2015.
