New Pattern Pinstripe Crossing

Pinstripe CrossingNew Pattern Pinstripe Crossing

In July, I started something new. I started a new tester group to help me test out my new patterns, plus was in the process of creating a secret Facebook group just for my testers.

One of my testers Richard Eaves, tested Pinstripe Crossing for me (crib size), and I love the end result very much.

This pattern was meant to be released round about 9 July 2017. But things went very pear shaped straight after that.

I am only now feeling some normality returning to my life, so after I finish of some commitments with some hops and quilt alongs, I will be back with a vengeance with loads of new patterns.

Pinstripe crossing above can be download from my Craftsy store by clicking on the photo above.

See you soon

Here are some of the sponsors for the BIG prize that you can win at the end of the quilt along.

And now for block 5.

This block is designed by Sherry Shish from Powered By Quilting (click this link for the pattern download page). It is the Snowman block.

Fabric selection for this block.

I chose a nice bright green for the background, white for the snowman and red and black for the hat.

Here is my version of the block.

I chose green thread for the background fabric and invisible thread for the rest of the block.

Stitch in the ditch all the way around each item, like the hat, band, the scarf and snowman.

The nose is machine appliqued in place.

Then switch to your quilting or darning foot, and make a meander all over the background. Or be more creative, and quilt some snowflakes.

I Wish You A Merry Quilt Along Block Five Plus Prizes

For the snowman, I used some water erasable marker, and drew some pebble shapes on his body, and quilted the pebbles. The marks will wash out and leave a beautiful texture. The idea is that it would look like handfuls of snow patted down while you make your snowman.

Klingon Bat’leth from Star Trek

Klingon Bat’leth from Star Trek

Klingon Bat'leth from Star Trek

Klingon Bat’leth from Star Trek

(Click on the image above to download this pattern)

Here we have another TNG (The Next Generation) pattern, Worf’s Bat’leth.

According to Klingon mythology, the first bat’leth was forged by Kahless the Unforgettable in the 9th century. Kahless cut a lock of his hair and dropped it into the lava of the Kri’stak volcano, then plunged the burning lock into the Lake of Lusor and twisted it into a blade. After forging the weapon, he used it to fight the tyrant Molor, and then gave it its name. This story was not recorded in public texts, but was passed down verbally by the Klingon clerics as a test of Kahless’ return. (TNG: “Rightful Heir“)

The Sword of Kahless was preserved by the Klingons following Kahless’ death, until it was stolen by the Hur’q when they plundered Qo’noS about five hundred years after his death. (DS9: “The Sword of Kahless“)

Worf owned a bat’leth that had been in his family for ten generations. After his mate K’Ehleyr was murdered by Duras, Worf used this weapon to kill Duras in honorable combat. (TNG: “Reunion“)

During his time aboard the USS Enterprise-D, Worf trained both William T. Riker and Beverly Crusher in the use of the bat’leth. (TNG: “The Quality of Life“, “The Pegasus“) (http://memory-alpha.wikia.com)

The Borg Queen

The Borg Queen

Welcome back to another Star Trek pattern!

The Borg Queen

The Borg Queen

This pattern is the Borg Queen from Star Trek, she appears in several episodes of The Next Generation and Voyager, and in the movie First Contact.

I have been working on this pattern for some time now, and have been delaying sharing it until the time was perfect.

The pattern is the perfect size for a wall hanging, but can easily be turned into a small quilt with some borders.

My friend Jennifer Ofenstein loves Star Trek just as much as I do, so this was the perfect gift to make.

Some of you might know, that Jennifer is the blog owner for Fandom in Stitches, where I design and write posts. And she has become a really good friend, plus she share the same birthday month as me.

So when I made this quilt,  it was a bit of tongue in cheek reference here to Fandom and Stitches as the collective and Jennifer as the Borg Queen.

(Please take note! The words in the quilt is not included in the pattern, if you would like them, please message me in the contact form below and I will gladly make up a pattern for the words.)

Just for fun, I am including my video to Jennifer about the wall hanging and Jennifer’s video where she shares the gift with us.

This is me!

And this is Jennifer our FIS Queen

 And the Borg Queen

Have an awesome crafty week.

Alida, has kindly added the how to play, and rules for each block, so I will be learning how to play it soon, and she will add how to make the play pieces for the block soon.
